Fulani Herdsmen Kill 5 Soldiers, Kidnap 2 in Benue State, Nigeria

About 5 soldiers have been reportedly killed and 2 other soldiers kidnapped after suspected Fulani Herdsmen clashed with some personnel of the Nigerian Military in Logo Local Government Area of Benue State, Northcentral Nigeria on Sunday May 20, 2018.

The attackers also burnt down Army patrol vehicles during the clash.

According to DAILY POST the Herdsmen had wanted to attack a village in Logo but where foiled by the Army.

The confrontation resulted into fire exchange of gunfire between the herdsmen and military personnel.

A resident of the area said that the herdsmen overpowered the soldiers and whisked away two soldiers.

Earlier six teachers were killed in Benue State by the same Fulani Herdsmen as the teachers went to inspect their rice farm.

Benue State has come under series of attacks by armed Fulani Herdsmen resulting in the death of thousands of innocent people including the killing of church worshipers in late April.

The security agencies appear helpless with the situation in Benue State while other Nigerians have called on the President Mohammadu Buhari led administration to proscribed the Fulani Herdsmen as a Terrorist Group.

The killings and destruction of properties including farmlands by Fulani Herdsmen led to the Benue State Government enacting an anti-open grazing bill.

The security situation in Benue State has continued to degenerate.
